Kitchen Renovations

Increase the value of your home while improving your daily life
Are you like most people, always saying things like “we should really update our kitchen,” after watching the latest episode on HGTV but have not done so yet?  As a contractor, I hear people making this statement along with customers saying things like, “the green colored appliances were the ‘in’ thing when we built the house” or “metal cabinets are considered a collector’s item now” as they walk me through their outdated kitchen.  You should not have to wait any longer to rid yourself of that dated kitchen because now is the time to get this project done!  Here are three reasons why you should choose to remodel your kitchen sooner rather than later.

The mortgage rates have been at an all time low and granite prices are currently less than Corian and Quartz.  Many manufacturers are offering discounts and rebates on cabinets in an effort to get people to buy now.  Appliances are still eligible for tax credits in 2012, and with the new technology they will help you save on your energy bills as well.

In addition to having the kitchen of your dreams, real estate agents will tell you that the kitchen  is one of the most important rooms when you are ready to sell your home, with master bathrooms being the other.  These two rooms can make or break the sale so when designing your kitchen, keep that in mind so that the money you put into this project will come back to you.

Granite countertops and stainless steel appliances are the “in” thing right now and have been for many years.  If sufficient space is available, islands are also a big plus for families.  The days of everyone sitting around the table for every meal are seldom seen.  Everyone is in a hurry so the more user friendly the kitchen is, the more money you will see on the return when you sell your home.

How you design your kitchen is ultimately up to you but when you select a contractor to assist you with this project, select someone who has a designer on staff or at least enough experience to make the crucial decisions before they begin.  This is a big project to undertake and you want it done right, the first time.  You do not want to have regrets after everything is finished so be prepared and do some research of your own and look at different designs on the web or in magazines because the more you know, the better the project will turn out.
